Power flushing in Drogheda.
Radiators cold at the bottom, rooms that never warm up, a boiler that sounds like a kettle? That's usually sludge. A power flush clears it out of the whole system, and a filter goes on to keep it clean.
Power Flushing in Drogheda & Co. Louth
Every heating system builds up sludge over time. It's mostly rust and debris from the inside of radiators and pipes, and it settles wherever the water slows down. Once there's enough of it, water can't get round the system properly. You end up with cold patches, rooms that never get warm and a boiler that's working twice as hard as it should.
Bleeding the radiators won't shift it, and topping up the system won't either. A power flush pushes water through every radiator and pipe at a high flow rate with a cleaning chemical, until what's coming out runs clear. When the system is clean, Dave fits a filter so new debris gets caught before it can do any damage to the boiler.

Signs your heating needs a power flush
How much does a power flush cost in Drogheda?
A power flush with a filter fitted starts from €450 for the whole system. The final price depends mostly on how many radiators you have and how bad the build-up is. Dave will look at the system first and tell you the price before he starts, so there are no surprises at the end of the day.
What's included
- Whole system flushed, every radiator and pipe
- Filter fitted to protect the boiler
- Radiators checked for even heat afterwards
- Clear price agreed before the work starts

What happens on the day
Most power flushes take the best part of a day. The machine is connected to your heating system, usually at the pump or the boiler, and each radiator is flushed in turn until the water runs clean. The heating will be off while the work is going on, so it's worth booking for a mild day if you can.
Once it's done, the system is refilled, the filter is fitted and Dave checks that every radiator is heating evenly from top to bottom.
Power Flushing: your questions
How much does a power flush cost?
From €450 for the whole system, with a filter fitted. Dave will confirm the price for your house before starting.
Will a power flush fix my cold radiators?
If the cold spots are caused by sludge, which is the most common reason, then yes. If it's something else, like a faulty valve or pump, Dave will tell you straight.
How long does a power flush take?
Usually most of a day, depending on how many radiators there are and how dirty the system is.
Why fit a filter?
The filter catches debris as the water circulates. It keeps the system cleaner for longer and protects your boiler, which is the most expensive part of the whole setup.
Should I get a power flush before a new boiler?
If the old system has sludge in it, yes. Putting a new boiler on a dirty system can shorten its life. Dave will check and advise.
